Vision – Lets rock the cultures!

For our English-Speaking community:

The “upgrade” is a yearly returning culture and music event in the centre of Magdeburg / Saxony-Anhalt/ Germany. It lasts three days and offers a platform for inter- and sociocultural integration. The aim is to create an opportunity for people to meet each other and foreign cultures and their mentalities.

Therewith the initiators want to raise the consciousness for the cultural multiplicity of Magdeburg and its sister cities Sarajevo/Bosnia Herzegovina, Radom / Poland, Saporoshje/ Ukraine and its sister region Centre/ France.  The purpose of the upgrade is to make the diversity of the cities emotionally tangible and to overcome the physic distance.  In first place the Upgrade wants to offer a stage to international artists in Magdeburg. Secondly its purpose is to activate a long term emotional connection.

Even though the upgrade basically focuses on culture and the cultural exchange, music builds the main start-up for the key message. This results from the fact that music does not rely on one language or one cultural background. Music literally overcomes borders and units people with various mentalities through pure emotion, rhythm and atmosphere. That is why the music festival on the Friday night will highlight the thought of the merging process and clarify the cultural connection between Magdeburg and its sister cities and regions.
